This loss of stiffness is because of the change of angle your spokes have to take in a larger wheel. The easiest way to alter the angle of spokes and build a stiffer wheelset was to widen hubs, and that is precisely what boost spacing did. Front wheels went from 100mm to 110mm and rear wheels from 142mm to 148mm. This though would be nothing without a stiff rim.

Carbon Fiber Rims
The ICAN AM275-40C rim is constructed using high modulus Toray T700 carbon fiber cloths. A marriage of these carbon cloths produces a lighter end product in comparison to a rim made only from Toray T700 carbon fiber cloth. The ICAN AM275-40C rims are available in 40mm width, to allow you to pick the rim that fits your choice of frame and tires. Wide rims offer less rolling resistance and superior stability.

The tubeless-ready, 40mm external width of the ICAN AM275 is optimized for use with modern, wider tires, providing them with the right amount of sidewall support to facilitate surefooted handling in all conditions. Endurable and Light Hub
Novatec straight pull hub with 4 pawls and high-quality Japanese sealed EZO bearings, it can use 3-5 years under normal usage. Thousands of riders all over the world on these hubs and they are great performers and super durable.
